North Berwick Food Pantry

The pantry is guided by the Director, Pam Landrigan The Pantry can be reached at (207) 957-4135 or by email nbfdpantry@gmail.com for any additional information or to make donations, usually on Mondays before or during the pantry’s hours of 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Anyone in need is welcome to come and receive food.

We are currently using a drive-up process. Each client will receive an order form to select the items they would like for the week. This order form will change weekly based on what the pantry has available.  We are also introducing meal kits, a complete dinner kit for clients to bring home and cook, if they choose.  That order will be filled and packed by volunteers while the client shops in our ‘store’ which will be set up inside.  Pre packaged food will be put in your car by one of our volunteers.

Because of the generosity of our community the food pantry currently has an abundance of food.

Started years ago by the New Covenant Baptist church member, Mary Craig, to help five families, it now is an independent food bank operating out of the Mary Hurd Academy, 77 High St. (Route 4). The space was designated by the school district when the church was no longer able to accommodate larger food shipments and a growing number of clients.

Besides responding to the increasingly strained family finances of its clients, it’s easy to see why this particular food pantry is so popular. To register, you need only to provide your contact information and indicate the number of members in your family. Unlike the rules at some other area food pantries, you do not need to live in North Berwick to be included.

Besides providing these advantages, the volunteers also are dedicated to good service. They strive to be friendly and accommodating. They sort, stock and clean with determination, and are thankful for their ability to do so with limited means. They pick up foods donated by Hannaford, BJ’s, and local farms and gardens, and have been known to make special deliveries to community members who are unable to visit the pantry or are in need of extra supplies.
