Overview

The Maine Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. State of Maine. It is a bicameral body composed of the lower house Maine House of Representatives and the upper house Maine Senate. The Legislature convenes at the State House in Augusta, where it has met since 1832.

The House of Representatives consists of 151 members, each chosen from single-member constituencies. The Senate consists of 35 members, each chosen from single member constituencies. Each Senator and House Representative is elected for a term of two years and limited to four consecutive terms.

The Town of North Berwick is represented by Senate District 34 (Acton, Kennebunk, Lebanon, Moody, North Berwick, Wells, West Lebanon, and part of Berwick) and House District 148 (Berwick/North Berwick (part)) and House District 149  (North Berwick (part)/South Berwick (part)) of the House of Representatives.
